Three Abbotsford companies are coming together to host a workshop day on Digital Storytelling. Relevention, Domain7 and Jelly Marketing have teamed up to provide an afternoon workshop session for Abbotsford businesses on how to tell their company's story online.

Working off of each other's strengths, these three companies will provide a clear and practical run down of the main elements needed to tell one's story.

This workshop is a chance to get reintroduced to two familiar but crucial ideas for proper, deep health in marketing: story and strategy. These are the secret weapons for helping "build the real you" in marketing, an inside-out approach that goes deep first, before scratching the superficial.

You'll learn about:

Story: The elements of story, and how story methodology works
Finding stories: Asking hard questions in corporate contexts
Story strategy: Setting directions and finding a unifying concept

DARIAN KOVACS

Darian is the Principal and Marketing Strategist at Jelly Marketing. He brings over a decade of experience in Internet Marketing and Public Relations.

Back in 2008, Darian started his own interactive marketing agency focussing on mobile apps and it was during this time that he recognized a specific need for businesses to be able to take their app to market in the digital sphere. He has worked with dozens of local businesses and charities to increase their visibility and presence online. KEVAN GILBERT

As content strategist with Vancouver digital agency Domain7, Kevan has helped tell stories online for dozens of clients, including UBC, United Way and Central1. With a degree in Media Communications from TWU and having studied project management at SFU, he brings both grand vision and pragmatic advice to digital storytelling. As a passionate speaker and writer, Kevan explores questions of how we can become better, whether that means telling better stories, building better businesses, or making a better world. He is a proud dad and doting husband, and has been known to improvise songs for almost any occasion.

BRADEN DOUGLAS

Braden Douglas, a seasoned marketer with over 10 years of experience, has fused strategic planning and unique creative designs to form the backbone of Relevention Marketing Inc. – one of the fastest growing results-based marketing agencies in British Columbia.

During the course of his studies in Business Administration at Wilfrid Laurier University, Braden discovered his intuition and passion for marketing. He pursued this interest after graduation at Procter & Gamble and later Frito Lay. Erica Hargreave, Founder and Creative Head of Ahimsa Media, is a forward thinker. Her early integration into the digital space and ability to develop stories interactively, led to the creation of one of the first digital / transmedia storytelling companies. They have created digital characters for the non-profit and education sector, been the digital voice behind films and TV Series, taught at a number of post-secondary institutions, and most recently launched a new transmedia travel property, Roamancing.

Over the years, Erica has written for TV, magazines, books, the web and the education sector. She has worked as a creative producer for both TV and theater, directed, and even starred in her own TV Show. Erica has also taught – both in the Community, and at Post Secondary and Grade School Institutions. Thriving on challenges and the desire to solve problems, Erica has been focusing her storytelling on emerging, digital and social media for the past few years and has been loving it. She loves to share this passion with others and help them to bring their stories to life too.
